Two Thousand Mud Runners at Kentwood

Kentwood Community (Wesleyan) Church in Kentwood, Michigan, turned some of their 60 acres into a challenging 5K mud run to benefit the nonprofit organization, “Claim Your Campus.” Over two thousand runners from the community participated in the “Grand Rapids Mud Run” that featured such challenges as crossing cement traffic barriers, hill-climbing, rope climbing, and running through nearly waist-high swamps to the finish line.

“Claim Your Campus,” founder and director is former Kentwood youth pastor, Rev. Jeff Eckart. The national ministry enlists middle and high school students from local churches to hold on-site prayer meetings in their schools. It also holds regional “Never the Same” camps that feature cutting edge programming on Christian college campuses. Well known contemporary bands and youth speakers challenge the students to commit their lives to Christ in community, national, and international ministries. The three weeks of the camp usually see over one thousand campers . . .
