The Church is full of stories worth telling; our Writing Team does their best to tell them. Specifically, our writing team focuses on how Wesleyan Pastors and Educational Institutions are partnering with God in transforming lives, churches, and communities with the hope and holiness of Jesus Christ.
Ethan Linder, Communications Coordinator and Lead Writer
A fresh Christian Ministries graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University, Ethan and his wife Sarah currently live in Marion, Indiana--where Ethan is College Ministry Pastor at College Wesleyan Church, and Sarah is a teacher. Ethan is also currently pursuing a Masters' Degree in Practical Theology. When he's not writing, Ethan enjoys reading, listening to music, studying cultures, running, and rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies.
If you have a story you think should be told, email Ethan.
Gabriela Garver, Staff Writer
An avid traveler, Gabriela recently returned from a year studying in Istanbul, Turkey to finish her undergraduate in International Relations at Indiana Wesleyan University. After graduation, she hopes to work with refugee resettlement. When it comes to good stories, Gabriela considers Anna Karenina and Les Misérables two of the best, and hopes someday she can write a tale as heart-felt and thought-provoking. Gabriela's perfect evening involves cooking with fresh ingredients and sharing the outcome with friends and guests.
Emily Hines, Staff Writer
Emily is a licensed pastor at Brookhaven Wesleyan Church. She loves to read, garden, laugh, craft, and cook. Her favorite places in the world include the mountains of Colorado and the countryside of Oxford, England. She and her husband Dave enjoy competitive board games and French press coffee. They currently have one orchid plant, affectionately named George.
Marty Phillips, Staff Writer
A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Marty is finishing up a history and instructional design degree at Indiana Wesleyan University. When he's not writing, Marty enjoys drinking coffee with his fiancé—preferably from hipster coffee shops in large cities. In his time off, you'll find Marty outside: reading (preferably Dostoevsky or Cormac McCarthy), fishing, mountain biking, and adventuring into the unknown.
Jessica White, Staff Writer
Jessica is the mother of two young daughters, Abigail and Josephine. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and taught second grade for three years before resigning to stay at home and raise her children. She also helps her husband, Kyle, with his responsibilities volunteering as the Worship Leader at their local church. When she's not writing, Jessica enjoys being outside and going for walks. In the summer you will find her playing at the beach or the pool with her family. In the winter, she enjoys scrapbooking and watching movies in her spare time.
As the year goes on, stay tuned to Education and Clergy Development's webpage. The Writing Team will be posting fresh content each week: detailing stories of God's work in clergy, chaplains, missionaries, churches, and educational institutions.
